White River

We spent our yearly weekend at Mitchell Camp in September. We always have a good time and W loves to go to the "cabinet"...or cabin. This year my goal was to wake early so I could sit on the deck, read, and drink my cup of coffee before the munchkins awoke. Then we had plenty of games, fishing, walking, and eating and eating and more eating. That's one thing we are good at.

Here's the motley crew that gets together every year.
Aunt Cares & Uncle J
Aunt T-T & Uncle Joel
Mr. Alvin runs the place where we stay and he is good buddies with Papa and the girls.
Papa and Mr. Alvin visit every morning and Mr. Alvin helped W catch her first fish last year.

We always celebrate Tiffany, Tom, and my birthdays. They are always close to the time we have Mitchell Camp. So there is usually a cake or cheesecake on top of the usual stuff we eat. We always have to have Big Red Ice Cream and a fish fry of some kind or crab and shrimp boil. We have taken to eating the lunch buffet, down the road, at Gaston's. It is super yummy and the dining room sits above the river with windows all the way around.

Across from Gaston's they have a playground and peacock's and a neat park. This year we went over to see all the peacock's and chickens and take some pictures.

It was a great weekend and something we look forward to every year. This year didn't disappoint.

October Recap

We did some fun things in October. We started the first weekend with another camping trip, but this time it was with our church family. It was a fun weekend, but really short.

We had to take few pictures of the girls on the front porch with the mums. They weren't always very cooperative, but that's where we are and that's okay.

Are you still with me? Just a few more. I do love that these capture B's personality...not looking at the camera and tears, just about anything her Momma wants her to do, she isn't interested.

Then we had a weekend we were invited to Claremore, OK, for a Barn Party with some good friends of ours. We decided to make it a weekend and we drove over Saturday morning to Tulsa and checked into a hotel. Then we made a stop at the Tulsa Zoo.

They had it decorated for Halloween and the girls love Scooby Doo.

Then we headed over to Claremore, for the party. The girls were tired but had a good time. We played outside games and had some great food. We even went on a hayride, which all the kids LOVED.
W and her buddy, Bennett.

On the Hayride.

Some of the crew that was there.
Then we went back to Tulsa for the night and stayed at a hotel. We took the girls swimming at the indoor pool, which they thought was really fun. It was a rough night for sleeping, but we all did the best we could with the girls being away from their beds. Then we visited a local congregation for worship Sunday morning and then headed back home that afternoon. It was a fun weekend, tiring, but fun. I think most weekends away seem to be that way. That must be common with little ones. ;-)

Max and Ruby Halloween

Ruby was good for a pose.

Max, not so much, but at least they are standing sort of close.

We had our friends from church over to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood this year. It was great fun for everyone and the kids came home with plenty too. It was a first time for a few of our friends, but by the time we were done for the evening they all had the hang of it.

I think I'll end this post here. We had a few more things to add to this month, but we'll do another post. Thanks for hanging this long...if you made it.

The Way Our Day Starts

When both of the girls wake, this is how they usually start their day while I fix breakfast or get ready.

Covered in a blanket watching some cartoons.

First for Pigtails

This was one of the first days we could put our hair in pigtails at 20 months.

First Camping Trip

This year we, ok, ok, I know its FOREVER since I've posted anything so really "this year" is in regards to 2011. Maybe I should start over...

Last fall, we decided we would take the girls camping for the first time. We had not been since BC...before children. So we were excited and as I spent about 3 days preparing with all my lists, sorting boxes, and grocery shopping, I TOTALLY forgot how much work goes into it. And not only is it a lot of packing and preparing for just 2 adults, but throw in a 1 and 3 year old and WOWSERS!! I was starting to wonder if this was a good idea or not. Fortunately my FAB husband had a "list" that he and his dad had used when they went camping and I have now made it into a Word document that I print off with each trip and it makes it UBER easy to pack.

So once we were packed there was barely room for the girls in the jeep. The back was completely filled and the floor and the seat in between them AND we even wrapped things in a tarp on top of the jeep. After that trip we decided that a little trailer is on the list to save for before next camping season.

We camped on the White River, on the back side of Beaver Lake. The campgrounds were full this weekend, but it was a good time.
This was dinner on Friday night, after setting up camp. They thought this was the best dinner ever...sandwiches.

This is what they played ALL weekend. We had sand shovels and pails and they dug in the dirt.
Fire our first night...aaahhhh.
Our view
Coffee percolator and my new mugs that were bought 4 years ago and just used for the fist time.

The people in the site next to us, built this and left it.
Around camp

Throwing rocks in the river.

Papa and Meme came for lunch and the afternoon on Saturday.

W's rocks she collected to bring home.

Papa and Meme came to spend the afternoon with us on Saturday. It was a really nice day. Playing at the playground, throwing rocks in the river, and eating lunch. It was a fun weekend, but we were ALL exhausted by the time we headed home on Sunday afternoon. It was a good tired, though.
